The "Last Dinner" Menu

This is a replica of the meu from the last first-class dining saloon on the night of April 14, 1912. Dinner on that Sunday evening was thought to be the most lavish of the voyage thus far. Women wore their new Paris gowns, and fresk flowers and fruit baskets adorned the tables. During the eleven-course meal, the waiters circulated with silver serving platers and offered diners something from every dish. In true Edwardian style, this menu offeres a wide assortment of rich, high-calorie fare. The Filets Mignons Lili , for example, is filet mignon with a buttery wine sause, topped with foie gras and truffles, set on a bded of buttered potatoes and granished with artichokes.
